BUSH DOCTOR® COCO LOCO® Coconut Coir Potting Mix
When we dream of tropical islands, palm trees are ever present. Gentle trade winds carry the fragrant scent of exotic flowers, and warm azure waters caress your senses. A lush tropical island can represent abundance, tranquility and a bit of frivolity. The warmth of the sun, the swaying of palm fronds, and a distant melodic beat create a realm of altered consciousness…we call it Coco Loco®. Lose yourself to the beat! Bring the rich bounty of the coconut tree into your own garden with Coco Loco®.
Aqua Supremo®!
As you trek through a tropical jungle, your steps remain light and buoyant, never soggy. The rain forest floor is remarkably deep with layers of exotic coconut palm humus. It is cool and damp for several inches. Hold the richness in your hands, feel the soft silky texture. It’s the perfect medium for cultivating plants. Keep on trekking!
Coconut Coir
The coir in Coco Loco is a by-product of coconut harvesting. It resists compaction, easily re-wets and behaves like little sponges making water available as needed by plants. Coco Loco® Potting Mix blends the water-holding qualities of coconut coir with perlite, which helps improve drainage and aeration at the root zone.
Loco for Coco
Why do plants go nuts for Coco Loco®? It’s the bat guano, Mon. Bat guano has been used for centuries as a fertilizer for all kinds of plants. Add earthworm castings and you have a nutrient-rich mix that can help your plants thrive.
Mycorrhizae take this blend to new heights, in the spirit of the islands. Mycorrhizae may colonize directly onto plant roots, helping enhance root efficiency. This may encourage nutrient uptake and enhance fruit and flower production.
How to Use – Container Gardens:
Add enough mix so the plant sits at the correct level. Fill in around root mass with more potting mix up to 1 inch (2.5 cm) from top of pot. Press gently to secure plant. Water thoroughly and let drain. Do not pack too tightly. Add more potting mix if necessary with settling. For re-potting plants, select a container one or two sizes larger than the one being replaced. Loosen roots from the root mass and use the same procedure as above.
Watering:
Whether you’re growing in hanging baskets, vertical gardens, containers, or seedling trays, you can extend your watering schedule. In most climates, every two or three days will be enough. Always adjust your watering schedule as needed. Now you will have more time to beat on the drum all day – or just enjoy the magnificence of your garden.
