Garden Tips
Japanese maples grow best in light, well-drained soils with good aeration and an ample supply of moisture. These plants will thrive in both direct and filtered sunlight. Be sure to select a sheltered area with a minimum exposure to windy conditions. Japanese maples can wind burn easily!
Mulch your plants with your preferred FoxFarm soil conditioner to support beneficial soil conditions, help conserve water, and feed surface roots. Treat your plant’s root system: Supplement with FoxFarm Big Bloom® Liquid Plant Food Concentrate.
Make a tea for deep root feeding: Add 1 cup Happy Frog® Japanese Maple Fertilizer per gallon of fresh water. Mix thoroughly and let stand for 24 hours. Strain solids out and apply tea at 1-2 cups per plant. For larger plants apply 2-4 cups of tea. Mulch the solids around the root zone of established plants.
